About the parish
St. Anthony's Church stands on 7th Main Road in Amar Layout, Kaval Bairasandra, a short walk from R.T. Nagar. It is a parish of the Archdiocese of Bangalore.
The parish is home to a Tamil-, English- and Kannada-speaking community. Daily Mass is celebrated in Tamil, and on Sundays there is a Mass in each of the three languages. Tuesday evenings bring the Rosary and the Novena to St. Anthony, and on the first Tuesday of every month the evening Mass is followed by a meal shared by everyone present.
The church is dedicated to St. Anthony of Padua. His banner hangs on one side of the entrance, and a banner of Our Mother of Perpetual Help on the other.

St. Anthony of Padua
Born in Lisbon around 1195, Anthony joined the Franciscans and became one of the great preachers of his age. He died near Padua on 13 June 1231 and was declared a saint within a year. He is shown with the Child Jesus and a lily, and is turned to by people who have lost something, or someone. By tradition Tuesday is his day: he was buried on a Tuesday, and devotion to him has gathered on Tuesdays ever since.
